Australia- Sandstone is durable, has a high crushing and tensile strength together with a wide range of texture and colours
Donnybrook stone from the Irishtown Quarries have very high silica content. Our sandstone deposit is consistent in quality, has no cross bedding with an even fine grain texture. Its compressive strength and great durability place it amongst the worlds premium "freestones". This is due to its lack of carbonates as a binder with in its place a secondary silica binder.
Many Historic buildings in Perth were built using Donnybrook sandstone. These include the West Australian Governments Parliament house, Perth CBD Commonwealth bank of Australia, Perth CBD Australia’s General Post office, State Libraries, museums, Commercial, residential and many more architectural buildings from in and around our beautiful state of Western Australia.
An estimated 140 million years in the making. Mother natures creation of colour in this sandstone is exquisite to say the least. Our quarries produce predominantly white and gold with several variations in colour and markings from pink and yellow patterns of the Australian dusk night sky to Gold banded lines and swirls of Ancient lake beds past. Specifiers and clients find our colours warm, inviting, timeless and compatible with many styles of architecture and design.
